Spring Outlook 2015

Now that we have made ourselves through almost all of the winter, we just have a couple more cold arctic blasts left before the end of Winter. So let's look ahead to spring of 2015 and see what it will provide for us Manitoban's. To mention all information is provided by Brett Anderson of Accuweather.

Spring 2015 will be around the corner in no time and we may have a awesome season ahead with the fact that we have had below normal snowfall this winter with the majority of it occuring to our north and west. As a result the flood risk will be low this spring, making for a less difficult growing season for farmers. In Addition to that there will also be near normal precipitation for western portions as well as central portions and below normal precipitation for southeastern portions, into northwestern ontario. It just means that there will be less rainfall than usual, although thunderstorms can still occur.

Brett Anderson mentioned that "More persistent westerly steering winds off the warmer-than-normal eastern Pacific Ocean will deliver more storms than usual to west-central British Columbia during the season.

These persistent winds will also deflect much of the lingering winter cold away from western Canada during early spring." That means above normal temperatures for us and a reprieve from all of the cold springs we've had. I just hope that this turns true, it has been a very tough couple of springs here in Manitoba. We'll definitely find out.
