Cold Weekend Warmer Week

Southern Manitoba will transition into a short cool period this weekend as a quick shot of arctic air moves in before we experience a flood of warmer and more seasonable temperatures as arctic air moves further north and east.

The night ahead tonight will feature clear and cold conditions (with the exception of Western Manitoba getting cloud and snow that will move in) as winds from the north move in. Our temperatures down to about 7F or -13C according to the NAM, however Environment Canada holds about -20C for a low in Winnipeg. Windchills around the -30C mark expected overnight. The same temperatures are expected in Brandon and Dauphin, although a few degrees warmer along the american border as the arctic air doesn't get that far south.

Sunday Cloud And Flurries

A weak area of low pressure will skoot by in North Dakota Sunday afternoon bringing cloud and flurries from areas of western Manitoba through the Swan River, Duck Mountain, and Riding Mountain areas into Brandon and south towards the american border towards the Red River Valley. That area of flurries and cloud will move into the Red River Valley and Winnipeg by evening time through the overnight. High temperatures near -12 and -14C expected through the day time with very minor windchills closer to -18C.
